Default Header install

Got myself a set of the 1 piece breathless performance headers. Plan on installing them this winter. Does anyone know how they install, from the top or the bottom? Or does anyone have the installation instructions for these?

I think for the most part they all install from the top. That's how my Kooks LTs go in/out. Process is not terribly complicated. Might want to do spark plugs and wires "while you're in there" since you will have an easier time without them installed anyway. Have a partner help you steady the header while you're starting the first and last bolt. DO NOT CROSS THREAD THEM AT ALL. It's so easy to do because its easy to get the header out of alignment. if you crossthread a bolt even slightly it will always want to go that way and you'll have to chase the threads in the head. Use a little antiseize on the threads too. Get them all snugged up at once and torque them to spec. Then get a tune.

Interesting that your KOOKS LTs go in/come out from the top. Maybe the guy I talked to at KOOKS was new, and hasn't had experience with R&R on a C5. But he told me the R&R is in/out the BOTTOM!! Maybe that's why I can't get them out!! I thought when I installed them over 15 years ago, they went in, and came out the top. Are you sure the top is the R&R route? It seems you're correct, seeing as mine wouldn't come out the bottom......

Last time I did it was early 2017 so it's been a while and my memory could be fuzzy but I am pretty sure it was via the top. I'm going to have to do it again this winter so I guess I'll find out again lol

ARH and Kooks headers install from the bottom. I don't think I've seen a brand that didn't. instructions for those are available online. Isn't Breathless performance out of business?

My Kooks installed from top. Today they install from bottom. The difference being having a lift.

Yes they are out of business. This was used set of headers in very nice shape. Since they're out of business there's no way to get the install instructions.

Texas speed I have passenger from top and drivers from bottom 🤷🏻‍♂️. Also use a floor jack to help you hold the end up under the car and it makes a world of difference in getting them bolted up.

Either way, you need to raise the car up a foot or more to connect them to the mid pipe etc.

Try both ways.

My ARH went in from the bottom.
Drive side was cake. Pass side a bitch.

Now that I have an LS3 with its pan, they fall in place.

Lifting car up is not a problem. Was looking more on how it connects to the stock exhaust and if that's even possible. I only have the headers. They have a 3 bold solid flange. I may need aftermarket cats. I already have a bassini x pipe and want to keep it.

I googled for photos. That led me to the Corvette Forum. Imagine that. 😊

Look like nice headers.

You will be in for some fab work. Shouldn’t be too hard.
