Discussion with the shop today. Seems the fuse box has an intermittent open in it. I'm gonna have to see this thing, but evidently those are not available so ... salvage yard.
Picked-up Val today. had a bit of a surge when in a "neutral" load not pulling/pushing the first leg. I noticed while sitting at idle in the parking lot as I was rebuilding my nest, had more frequent pops in the exhaust. She ran about 30 minutes, I stopped to refuel/eat ... then the hour/15 home ran great. Started no problem both times.
The fuse box was replaced with a known "good" one. Ain't that a kicker??? And the timing for this failure happened when we replaced the ign switch.
Anyhow. IDK if this really helps the BBS's knowledge base or not but there it is
(Augustus McCrae: "well, I don't know what you can do with the information, but there it is.")
I can't help but wonder if the Car Toy ... people ... disturbed/damaged it when doing the stereo install. I know they had to access it for the power, but I specifically instructed to leave all the OEM wiring in place, just disconnect the power lead so no bzzzzt.
driver door speaker is already inop ... less than a year. Do I let 'em take a looksie ... or just do it myself? sigh.
later this week Texas gets a cool down. I'm hopeful to get a nice starter spin/light-off cold.
