New Corvette Owner With Questions
I just purchased a 2004 C5 Base with 24K miles. It is my first Corvette and it is in great shape, but I have had some unexpected issues since day one. Soon after getting my Vette I filled the tank only to discover that this car has dual gas tanks, and that the crossover pipe and drivers side tank needed to be replaced. To do this repair the transmission needed to be removed along with the mufflers. I have discovered that this is a common problem with the C5 Corvettes. Which was costly and really bummed me out. That problem has now been fixed.
My next project was getting new wheels and tires. After a few days of driving on them I discovered at about 70mph that the car had a shutter. I brought the car back to the tire shop for re-balancing of the tires only to find out the shutter is not a wheel/tire issue. With the car raised and the tires off, we started the car and increased pressure on the gas peddle until the speedometer hit 70mph. At 70mph the shutter started again. Questions for you all. Could the shuttering be happening from a bad rear router, the drive shaft, the rear axles, the differential, or could it have something to do with the transmission being removed and replaced to do the gas tank repair? I have had many cool cars over the years, but I really love this 2004 C5 red Corvette. I hope I didn't buy a money pit. Any feedback that can shed some light in this matter would really be appreciated.
Thanks, Edgemere

I'm not sure that your poll has to do with the problem that you mentioned. If you want to upgrade your suspension, I would recommend C6 Z06 shocks paired with C6 Z51 sway bars. This will be a big improvement over stock. It will also be better than the C5 Z51 package. You may want to edit your poll as one of the options is actually the question you are asking.
As for the shutter, you might want to check your harmonic balancer.
Don't forget to SAVE THE WAVE!
