Hi: My ABS module is faulty. I have found many websites and YouTube videos describing how to repair a 2001(?) and later module but apparently the version in my 99 is different and so this relatively easy fix does not apply. I'm asking if any of you know of a fix for my situation or someone that can repair mine. From what I've been able to find out so far replacements are not available, used are few, far between and stupid expensive! Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
They have numerous wrecks of all years. I wasn't aware that this part could be updated with a later MY part according to OregonDan. I'd look into that as well... GOOD LUCK!

PS: Mine is the V version with active handling.
Get used to the light on. If u find one, if i remember correctly they go for around 1k and no guarantee.

Yes. Somewhere on the C5 forum there's a step by step on how to convert from the early ABS to the late version. Spendy, but it can be done.
Hello everyone and thanks for your input. I will look into your suggestions.
In the meantime, someone suggested that I post what codes the car is throwing... good idea, thanks! Here they are...
10-PCM: No Codes
28-TCS: C1225H, C1243H, C1283H
40-BCM: No Codes
58-SDM: No Codes
60-IPC: B1527H
80-RADIO: No Com (I have an aftermarket stereo, maybe that is why)
99-HVAC: U1160H, B0363HC, B0441HC (I know my AC needs service but haven't gotten it fixed... I live in MN and it's not terribly hot here)
BO-RFA: U1096H, U1064H, U1016H, C2120HC
NO MORE CODES
If anyone can comment on what these codes mean and if they confirm that the ABS module (or something else) is faulty I would appreciate your help/advise.
Thanks tabbruzz. I forgot to mention that I know that my steering sensor is faulty but we found a new one and need to install it... kind of a major deal. From what i understand though that would not cause the ABS to go out? The steering sensor has been out for quite some time. The ABS just stopped working recently. Am I wrong?.

The ABS has stopped working because of the C1225 code, (Left Front Wheel Speed Variation). The car is not receiving the correct information with wheel speed to know how to respond with ABS, TCS, or active handling because of that code. The C1283 steering sensor code does not affect ABS so it stays active with that code, but once C1225 is set for the wheel speed, that's when the ABS was disabled.
Either your LF wheel speed sensor is bad, the wiring, or connector to the sensor is bad. Usual reasons that code is set. Sometimes it is the EBCM, but need to check out the connections to the wheel speed sensors as well as the sensor first. Another connection you could try is to re-seat the Connector on the EBCM itself. Years of being on the EBCM that connection could have a bad connection as well. Recently I had an issue with a car and all it took to fix the problem is to re-seat the connection on the control module and the problem was fixed.
The C1243 code is for a stalled BPMV Motor. People have put power into it to un-stick the motor, others have hit the brakes hard to activate the ABS as well as other ways. In order to unstick the BPMV you need to get ABS working first. So C1225 needs to be addressed first before unsticking the BPMV (C1243).
Thanks Redrider! Those are definitely things that can be checked/tried with minimal effort and expense. As you said they give me hope that a simple fix may be possible. Much appreciated!
