just got new tires for my2003 zo6. 265 30 19 frt 305 30 20 rr .The tire shop set them at 30lbs frt 28 lbs rr . Seemed a little odd to me. I called manufacturer and they said 40 frt 35 rr. What do you guys think.

I have been doing the 30-31 lb hot thing for 16 years now. That means i put in less than 30 cold ... to reach the "sweet spot" of 30-31 ...Adjust seasonally...
For normal street driving including spirited maneuvering, follow what the door sticker says -- 30 psi cold all four corners. The tire manufacturer has no clue about a C5.
I have to agree, go by the door sticker information , unless you have a non stock operational need and know what you are doing. the suspension was tuned at the specified tire pressure, so perhaps has a little more going for it beyond just safety, even with non stock tires,
Reading here is the first time I have heard of anything other than a cold pressure check and fill on a street car. On a a race car where thousandths of a second might be important, hot tire air management might make some sense. I have taken the pressure reading on a hot tire right off the highway, when stopped for gas, just to know what is happening with the machine, in the days before air pressure sensors.
