Hi all - I recently bought a 2000 C5 coupe that is pretty well setup for road racing. Lots of mods and so forth that I am still finding (realized today it is mini-tubbed).
Anyway, to the point of my post - the car has original PFADT coilovers on all 4 corners, and it is low, like too low, like I can barely get in my driveway low and cannot get a low profile floor jack under it. It also rides like a brick. I will probably never track the car and I do want to be able to enter and exit my driveway without major difficulty.
Does anyone have the manual/instructions from PFADT for the coilovers or for that matter have experience with changing the ride height? I would like to get the car up about an 3/4-1" higher if possible.
I measured the wheel wells yesterday afternoon, car is on 18's, 335/30 in back and 285/35 in front. Rear is 26.5" and front is 26". Not sure if that helps with my question or not, I am a complete noob to C5's.
Raising the ride height with coilovers is simple, you need the right spanner wrench and tighten those collars on the bottom of the spring. The bottom collar locks, the top raises the ride height
Right, but doing that will also increase spring preload and create a rougher ride, right? I am wondering what the lock nut at the bottom of the shock does, is the shock body threaded at the bottom and can be lengthened and shortened, if that makes any sense.
Man, thanks for that link! So my hunch was right about the collar C adjustment, that is fantastic, I hope I have enough there to get at least 3/4" and make the driveway entry better! Thanks again!
