It's happened again...the control module is fried. Part number is 10302714. But this thing is discontinued and I can't find a new one anywhere. My dealer says a used one won't do me any good because they are locked to the vin # and can't be reprogrammed. I replaced the rear shocks not long ago at great expense, so I really would like to keep this system stock if possible. Any ideas? Also, know of a Corvette specialty shop in the Western North Carolina area? Maybe someone to help with this?
Thanks Guys

I might be wrong, but I think you've answered you're own question! As for the septic tank 'stealer', IF they're married to the VIN, why make a replacement part (when they were still available!) if the original is married to the VIN, and the replacement can't be? No hope, or so the 'stealer' says. He must wanna sell you a new C8!! How would the car know if it's a used one, or a new one? I'm sure a Tech 2, or equivalent, could marry a used part to your car. If I'm wrong, which I doubt, I apologize in advance. Call C&S Corvettes, and talk to Lyle@800-533-4650or Vettenuts, and talk to Marc Rose@615-896-6100. They'll quickly give you an honest opinion......
I had this thing replaced several years ago by a new part, which was not locked at all. The dealer programmed it to my car, which locked it, and it worked ok....till now. The new part is not available any more, and any used part I might find has already been locked to a different car and cannot be reprogrammed. I did find an outfit that will rebuild mine, but just getting it out of the car is more than I want to tackle. Since the car will not run and drive with it removed, I have to decide if I want to leave it at the shop while I send the unit to be rebuilt. It would be stored outside in an unlocked lot, and I'm not too keen on that.

Another TREMENDOUS argument against locking anything electronically in these cars. If that's the case, perhaps the BCM vin# can be programmed to match the VIN# of the module? Of course, the PCM would then have to be reprogrammed to the same VIN# as the BCM, and then maybe a Tech 2 could be used to add the options your car has. IDK, this is a question for C5Diag, Bill Curlee, MMartinez, or some other forum electronics expert. I hate to trust dealers (stealers)....

I don't even know how you'd program it. Everyone says the car will get the option turned on automatically if the module is plugged in and there are no options for it, it either exists in the car or not.
It seems that due to miscommunication somewhere, I got the wrong information as to which part is faulty. It turns out that the ABS module is the culprit. That's part # 10343433 It also is discontinued and a Google search doesn't turn up any for sale. I know that there's videos on YouTube showing how to re-solder some points yourself, but I spoke with the mechanic at my local Chevy dealership who said he's tried on 4 different units to make that repair without success. I think I'll have him pull it out of the car, since I'm too old and lazy to do it myself; it looks like it would be a pain. Any suggestions as to where to send it to be repaired?

I repaired my ecbm module myself, just a relay contacts problem. Was not hard and the part was $4.00 from mouser. There is a how to thread on this forum somewhere, I tried to find but could not. it is similar to the issue with the steering lock relay. GM used poor quality relays and the contacts get high resistance.
