Hello,
Have had to replace my Traffic hazard switch twice, 1 year ago and needs replacement again. Is there some other fix that stops these switches from always failing. Don't want to be doing this every year.
The longevity of the switch depends on where you bought it !!…from a Dealership great…from a parts store or Rock Auto (AC Delco)…better…from Amazon or EBay….worst !!
A hyper flash harness, that is typically recommend to correct the flash rate for LEDs, includes a new turn signal flasher that replaces the flash function of the hazard switch for turn signals. Hazard lights still flash from the hazard switch internal flasher. I bought mine along with some front turn signal LEDs from sharp light innovations, they are highly praised on here.
First try turning the hazard switch on and off 20 or 30 times. Switch contacts become lightly corroded and don't make contact. If that works see below.
There is also a procedure to drill into the switch and inject contact cleaner/ lubricant. After getting it working as in above, I did this a number of years ago when I kept losing turn signals. Ok ever since without ever changing the hazard switch.
You will find the drill method eventually if you search hazard switch or turn signals.
