Default Service Column Lock error message.

Hey, guys. So I was out for a cruise the other day around my neighborhood and while I was out, my front wheel hit this pot hole(can’t remember which front wheel). When I hit the pot hole the "service column lock" message popped up on the code screen and now I get a creaking/squeaky sound coming from the front wheel(s) when I turn them. I’m aware of the common issue that the steering wheel locks out when going over 2 mph. That’s not the case here. My steering wheel does NOT lock at all now. Pin would drop when you would turn the car off. It does not do that now. The previous owner says that he installed a by pass for the issue and I haven’t had any issues with the column lock since then until I hit the pot hole the other day. I checked under my Vette to see if I could notice where the squeaking/creaking sound might be coming from. Saw that my tie rod end rubber bushings are worn out and shot, but they look like they’ve been like that for awhile now. They don’t look like they busted the other day. I don’t know if the tie rod ends would have any correlation to the squeaking and column lock issue. Please, any insight on this issue would be very helpful and greatly appreciated. My next step would have to be getting it towed to East Coast Supercharging I can’t figure it out. Thank you.

P.S. it is a 1998 model

The majority of CL issues are weak batteries or battery connections..I'd check them both...get your suspension checked out and that has nothing to do with your CL issue.
