Problem with MN6 transmission!
5th gear seems to be allright for the racetrack. For highspeed cruising on the Autobahn though, I have the feeling that 5th gear is too short, whereas 6th is way too long....
Since I am happy with the lower gears, I think best solution for my problem would be to shorten 6th gear.
Does anyone know where I can get a shorter 6th gear with a ratio of around 0.64?
Thanx! :seeya
also being in Germany, I have the same "problem". I have Getrag 3.73 gears, which means the rev limiter is hit at aroung 165 mph (265 km/h) in fifth gear, and the car gets to that speed pretty quickly. In sixth gear there is little acceleration left, at least not enough to be of any use on the autobahn.
Geiger (www.geigercars.de) can change sixth gear, but it is over $3000. I think that is way too expensive, and it takes them 3-4 weeks after delivery of your gearbox.
In my opinion sixth gear is fine for highway cruising, allowing you to keep the rpms low. It just isn't ideal for top speed.
I guess your goal is to break the 300kmh (188mph). You could get gears that allow you to get to 300kmh in fifth gear. Not an option for me though.
I have cam and heads, but no upgraded valve springs. I am considdering getting better valve springs and raising the rpm limit to 6500rpm, or maybe even more. This will help to close the gap between fifth and sixth gear, at a reasonable price.

Till, you're right about Geiger, their price for a shorter 6th gear is ridiculous!
You must know that my car is still bone stock. I guess my "problem" can be solved by tuning the engine, so that it can rev more freely in 5th and pull stronger in 6th.
I'll start with a Blackwing....
