Default Fuel problem ?00

Hello

I live in france and I need some help

I have a C5, manual speed, 70 000 miles. Il like this car and it worked fine. But now it doen'nt want to start if I leave it few days without use it. When I turn on, I heard two or tree second the fuel pomp. The starter works, but the motor doen't want to start. If I insist long time, it start, but during one or two minuts, le motor run very slow (500 tr or less), as if pistons were missing. After it work fine. No error code.

Fuel pump ?

How to be sure, because it's not easy to change it ?

I had the fuel jauge problem. I used fuel cleaner to clean the jauge. I changed the fuel filter 10 000 miles earlier. Would he be fouled ?

Do you suggest any check to do ?

Many thanks for your answer

Christian

The first thing would be to read any codes which can be accessed via the DIC.

Report back.

Load test the battery., report back.

Compare battery voltage read across the battery terminals to voltage shown on the DIC, report back.

This may be a crankshaft position sensor issue..with the battery fully charged and engine cranking does the tachometer appear to move ??…my engine cranks at around 150 RPM so you should see something…with a bad crank sensor you will not have spark and injector pulse…you can also see if you have spark by removing the plug wire off any coil pack and seeing if the spark will jump from the coil pack to plug wire…to test for injector pulse connect a 12 volt test light to battery positive and then remove any injector connector…while the engine is cranking probe the striped wire on the connector with the test light…if you have injector pulse the test light will blink as the engine is cranking….if both tests fail you should be looking at the crank sensor or the wiring !!…long crank times may also be a bad CAMSHAFT position sensor.

Hello from across the pond, my suggestion would be to obtain/rent a fuel pressure gauge that attaches to the fuel rail, pressure should be around 55psi doing so would point to problems with fuel delivery or rule out the the fuel system.

Thanks to your answer
I had two time this problem.
I tryed again between 12 and 15 time without having it.
The car start very well.
I had these errors codes when I had the problem:
B2280
B2285
B2282
B2283
U1016
U1064
U1096
It seem that the battery was too low...
I had an GPS localisation alarm connected on ODB. When I don't use the car, the battery was very low in one week.
When I had the problem, the engine crank normaly
There is enought power in the battery for the engine crank but not enough for the calculators ?
The fuel pump is on by the calculator, wich receive information from the pressure sensor.
I removeed the GPS after the first problem.

If the battery has enough power to crank the engine over it should have enough power to start the engine. Are you referring to the PCM as the calculator? The PCM turns on the fuel pump for 2 seconds when you first turn the key on to start the car and then provides power to the fuel pump all the time the car is running, there is no fuel pressure sensor. Have you in fact measured your fuel pressure at the fuel rail ?

Hello
Yes for me the PCM is the calculator. Sorry
I have the service manual, page 6-588 there is the fuel schematic , they talk about the fuel tank pressure sensor (FTP). C1, C2, C3 on the PCM. I don't know where is it !
I don't measured the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. I don't have anithing to test it. And I don't repeat the problem !
But I don't want to stay on the road side !

The fuel tank pressure sensor has NOTHING to do with your concern…best bet is to take it to an automotive shop…they will have the tools to diagnose this !!

Hello,
I ordered the fuel pump. BUT it appear that's it's a battery problem !
I measured the battery tension: if I have 11,9 v, the pump doesn't want to start. But the starter crank the engine normaly . The engine don't start. If the battery tension is 12,0 v, the fuel pump start, and the motor start normaly. My battery is battery pure lead (three big cylinders). I don't use my car very often during winter. So sometime, I use an smal électronic charger to charge it. I checked, when the battery seem low (11,9v), and I connect my charger, in ten minuts, the battery is around 14 v (full). I used an old charger, big, with an transformer, it took several days to have a full battery. Evrything seem to work fine now.
I don't understand why ?
