A few months ago I got the hanging clutch pedal syndrome and after endless reading here on the forum I decided to change the master cyl first. My 02 Z only has 50K on it so not really thinking of replacing the clutch unless I have to. After changing the master the problem has not recurred, but after looking at the sludge and muck inside the master I figured the slave cannot be much better.
Again, thanks to all the previous threads about this, I decided to get to the bleed screw by removing the intake. With the intake and secondary air injection pipe removed I could not get my hand down there to reach the bleeder. I ended up greatly modifying a 7/16" wrench to access it. I also replaced the oil pressure sending unit.
You will want to place a drain pan under the car as the old fluid runs out of the bell housing.
Now you see why a remote bleeder is considered a "must add" item on these cars. Whoever designed the LS clutch system to bleed like it does deserves a firm kick in the pills.
