Default new steering wheel

I need directions, tips, help, and more. I would like to replace my steering wheel with a new stock wheel on my 03. The present wheel , after 72 thousand miles is slippery. Not sticky, the rim is too smooth. Could someone please give me the steps to put a new wheel on without blowing up the airbag. Thank you for any help.

I got mine off in about 1 minute. Others destroy their old wheel trying to get it off so your mileage may vary.

Here's my thread on it

Also..don't cut the wire!

As far as I know, the steering wheels are smooth. (Then again my car has over 300,000 miles on it) Are you using some sort of conditioner like Armor All or something? Those products make the wheel more slippery. If yes, have you tried wiping the steering wheel with Windex or some other cleaner or just letting the treatment wear off? This will sound weird but if your hands (skin) are very dry, that may be adding to it.

Just added this C5 a couple of months ago and have no idea if the PO used anything on it. I'll take your suggestion and use some cleaner on it and see what happens before I replace the wheel. Thanks

If you need a wheel, I have the original I took off my car at 34K miles. I would let it go for cheap.
