Default Windowshield Wipers issue video included.

Windshield wipers not working properly.
I removed the cover to show you the issue that is happening. Watch the linkage in intermittent mode, then watch how it acts when it goes to park.

Tell me the best way to fix this please. The video is long, because I cycle thru each mode to show you how the wiper transmission linkage acts.
If you notice the park position is off, eventhough the rest position for intermittent mode is straight. How do I fix this?

My wipers park half way up the windshield.

This is a screenshot of the park position. On the right is the stop tab in the red box.On the left in the red box is the parking stop position. Why is this so far away from the stop tab in the stop position when its perfect straight in intermittent mode.

Here is what is now happening after setting the calibration where the park and stop tab are right next to each other.
I recalibrated it just like the video said. I noticed when I had the cover off in the daytime the tab was bent and pushed back would that cause this?

I never noticed this when I was taking the video last night, but in daylight the tab actually looked bent. Look right at the right stop tab to see the bend angle.

Anytime I reset the calibration, cycle the intermittent mode, then flip it to the off mode the thing moves back out of position.

After numerous attempts to recalibrate this by trying different positions with the crank arm I discovered the issue was a bent parking tab. Once I straightened it with a set of locking pliers tonight the wipers park normally again in the off position. If you are having an issue where the wipers park up the windshield pull the crank arm off. Bend the park tab tab, re-align the crank arm again, and keep on removing it and bending it until the park stop hits that tab. You will have to keep taking it off and putting it back on over and over until you see its hitting that tab. It does take some time, but your patience will pay off.

Steps for recalibration:
1). Turn the wipers to intermittent mode and let the wipers cycle 3 times.
2). When they cycle a third time and they pause turn the car off
3). Remove the T-30 Star bolt and gently rock the crank arm off of the wiper transmission
4). Put the crank arm to the side and gently bend the park tab back to where you think it will hit.
5). Put the crank arm back on in a straight position with the park stop 4-8mm away from the park tab
6). Turn the key to acc position and try the wipers on intermittent mode, but make sure the T-30 bolt is tightened down on the crank arm before you try this. If you just sit the crank arm back in place without tightening it back down with the T-30 bolt you will see it pause half way thru or jam mid cycle. It must be tightened back down each time before you try to test the wiper switch.
7). Flip the wipers to the off position and see it your park postion looks like this. It should look somewhere close to this. If it doesn't rotate into this position when the switch is off when your bent park tab is not bent into the right position for the stop to catch it. Notice the recess is pointed torward the right hand corner.

This is the technical parts of the crank arm mechanism thats attached to the wiper transmission motor.

The parking pawl must hit the park stop properly for your wipers to park in the off position correctly. This is achieved by re-bending the park stop where it will make contact with the parking pawl when the wiper switch is turned to the off position.

The run position is the re-alignment position after step 2 where you shut off after the third cycle

Your re-alignment should look like this with only 4-8mm between the pawl and the stop. If your park tab is hitting correctly the off position should look just like the picture above. If it doesn't look like that then take a set of pliers/hammer and flatblade screwdriver to bend the park stop back to where it makes contact with the parking pawl when it goes to the off position using the wiper switch.

In the off position the parking pawl should be grabbing the park stop like this.

Tools required for fixing a wiper crank arm issue
1 3/8 rachet with a 6" extension
1 flatblade screwdriver (5 plastic clips holding the cover over the wiper linkage)
1 T-30 Socket (Wiper Crank Arm)
1 T-20 Socket (Wiper tranmission bolts (3)
1 10mm socket (Wiper linkage) (3)
1 13mm socket (Wiper ams) (2)

The flatblade screwdriver is used to remove these. This is the cowl thats under your hood covering the wiper transmission

I hope this helps anyone having the same issue as me with the wipers parking half way up the window.

Don't know if this will help...But make sure your udders are clean and the wiper motor and circuit board are not wet. If they're wet, use a heat gun or hair dryer on them.

Hey, Mike. Not sure if you’re still around here but I have to say I found this to be a great write-up! Some of us, not nearly gifted as you, stumble around in the dark trying to put something back together. Yea, I know, ‘take pictures’, ‘write stuff down’, etc and so on. I got to find every way not to do something before I finally come across a post like yours that gets me back on task. Great and thorough explanations! There are a couple of places on the electronics side and using a DVM that would be worth the time to study up on, but that be a whole ‘nuther story. Thank you for your willingness to put yourself out there.

Well done, good sir!

Hey Joe I sold my Z06 to a neighbor's kid who said it was his dream car. I'm all about fuel efficiency and luxury vehicles now. He offered me a good amount of money for it, but I took less than what was offered just to make his dreams come true. I am glad my post was able to help you. I see the car regularly and he always looks happy driving it so it was a great thing to do for one of my neighbor's kids. That's why I am rarely on this forum anymore, but as I said I am glad my older post could help someone.
