Really takes longer to jack the car up than to install the skip shift...
So why can;t I get motivated to do mine LOL - I've had it sitting for 4 years now on my dining room table and keep saying I'll do it this weekend. - now just will wait until it gets warm - did my wife's 2015 SS Camaro and it was so simple

Next time it’s at the shop for an oil change, or whatever, and they have it on the lift just ask them to plug it in for you. 5 min job.
This is something you can also disable with tuning, if you're more handy with computers than with jack stands.

The wiki pages should tell you everything you need to know.
It is also something that you can disable by doing nothing but avoiding the situations in which it occurs. First, having a shift forced from 1st to 4th is a rare occurrence, you have to be moving very slowly (like behind another car in heavy traffic). Second, you have to initiate the shift to 2nd between 14 and 19 mph. Third, you have to be using a very light throttle with a throttle opening of less than 21%.
The easiest way to avoid is to shift to second before 14 mph (all Corvettes can handle this from an engine and drive train stand point) or to shift to second after 20 mph so memorize a rule of thumb to make the shift to 2nd at 10 mph or 20 mph and you will never see CAGS activate. If you happen to be following a slow car and inattentively try shifting into 2nd between 14 and 19 and feel the shifter being forced to 4th, all you need to do is move the shift lever forward toward the 3rd gear gate and then pull it into 2nd gear. No need to purchase anything and no need to modify the car. That is probably what the prior owners of the OPs car did for 22 years.
Back in the day, the C5 CAGS eliminators used to be $20. However, even the $12 price shown in the thread is too much. Even a $0.00 cost is too much since it takes time to install the eliminator. Save your money and time (once gone you can't get it back).
