Our ‘99 C5 is garaged; however, the garage isn’t heated. I have not started it in 2020. When I tried last night the starter just clicked. I checked the battery voltage - 11.49.
I connected the battery to my CTEK 3300. This morning, after charging for about 12 hours, I again checked the voltage - 12.56.
The car started immediately; however, the aforementioned message REFUSED to go away.
The LMC5 is installed. Over the years the message has periodically popped up. Turning the car off and restarting clears this message - just an annoying gremlin amongst the ones we have.
Since I can’t drive the car (winter weather) and shutting off/restarting several times didn’t work - do I have to worry? Obviously, I don’t want to get stuck somewhere.
Any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.
Yes mine does the same even sometimes with the lmc5 module installed. i get "steering column locked" and fuel cut. Is terrible and will fry a starter attempting to repeatedly start the car and fuel cut.
Justin, have you had the 2mph fuel cut off changed in your PCM? When I had an older battery the overnight voltage when down to 12.0V and I jump started it and it would quit as soon as I tried to back out of the garage. Turned out to be the 2 mph cut off, had it changed in the tune to 256 mph and no problems in the last 5 years.

No i havent pcmofnc said they could turn it off by disabling vats and frost told me he could turn it off or change the 2mph cutoff but the car may still read the codes as long as i had the steering column lock bypass module.
Im heading over to a local dynotune shop that does alot of ls vehicles. Hopefully he may know how to disable it but im not sure where in the pcm that data is would have to be familiar with corvettes and that 2moh fuel cut issue. Have to be there at 10am hopefully the tune works out and car doesnt have any mechanical issues. Was going to do the mail order tune but they recommend even having a wideband to check afr.
Yes i did the brown wire install and cut the loop. Though i checked to see if i did the install correctly by pulling the bcm back out didnt disconnect anything just looked at the module to confirm i had the wires in the correct location and it hasnt done it since. Maybe driven 10 times.
However i did remove the column lock relay above the bcm according to the lmc5 instruction sheet. I have these 2 codes
B2588 column lock open to short to voltage
B2593 column unlock open or short to voltage
Are these codes present when you remove the steering column lock relay as in the instructions of the lmc5? Can you leave the relay inserted and not have this issue? What do these codes pertain to? The only thing i did was the lmc5 and brown wire mod cut loop and removed the column lock relay. Would these codes be present with the column lock relay removed? The steering column is unlocked and always has been since i've had the vehicle for 7 months. Not sure how its unlocked.

Hello do you happen to know where this feature is located? I found the speed limiter raised to "250"mph but the tuner wasn't aware of where the fuel cut "2mph" parameter was to adjust so he just turned off the vats and that should get rid of it.
