Default LS3 Build Needs

Recently built an iron 6.0 for my 98 m6, had it bore .030, CP pistons, forged rods, 243 heads dual springs, stock crank. FAST intake manifold, halltech intake. Torquer v4 camshaft.

Well, 400 miles and something really failed. Just got the motor out and taking it to the machine shop but can see heavy scoring in a couple pistons.

So, I’m trying to decide my next route.

If I buy a bare Ls3, set of pistons and crank, everything else can swap over, right? Trying to calculate costs, so anything I’m overlooking would be appreciated!

How do the bores look? Could it take another bore or a sleeve?

I imagine they could take a sleeve in the one that seems the worst. But now I’m up against machining costs vs just a fresh bare block that is ready to go.

I’ll get some more info when they open back up Monday though.

A few pistons definitely need replaced, I’m waiting to pull them out till I get it to the machine shop, as there could be some responsibility on them and they want to witness the tear down.
