I'm having a problem with my 2004 with multiple symptoms making me suspect the fuel pressure regulator. I need to confirm with a pressure test, but I'm also doing some searching and coming up with mixed results. Some say that the 03-04 have the fuel filter/regulator as an integrated unit on the frame while others say it's all in-tank. Can anyone definitively say what the 04's have? I have the downloaded service manuals and I'm digging through them, but I'm lacking an index.
The 04’s have the filter in tank…look at the RPO codes on the sticker in your glovebox…if it says FFS it’s in tank…do you have a scan tool ??…if you do I can probably help by looking at some live data…if not you will only be guessing and that can get expensive…first try cleaning your MAF and Throttle Body..any DTC’s ??…they can be retrieved through the DIC.
Well it does not have FFS but it is definitely an 04. A little digging says that code was in 03 and showed a revised fuel system, so I assume the 04 didn't need this code. I pulled the DTC codes and nothing current except my intermittent tach signal. No scan tool, but I will try cleaning the throttle body and MAF first. I do know someone with a scanner, hopefully I can get over there and see what's going on. Thanks!

FFS started midway through the ‘03 model year starting with VIN 35114929…production date was 11/25/02…look on the inside of the left frame rail near the rear tire and let us know if you see the fuel filter/ pressure regulator !!…at hot idle check your MAF grams/second..should read a little over 6 grams/second…the TPS1 and TPS2 percentage should be below 10%…if it’s 15-20% it’s most likely dirty.
