Ok...so the stock vette like my 98 has 4 cats. 2 pups and 2 others. The z only has 2 cats, no pup cats. So why not gut the pup cats? Would it make sense and be the same?

No it wouldn’t be the same. Main cats on the Z are different.

I mean eliminating the pup cats up front since the z didn't have them wouldn't it be the same by eliminating them? I bet it'll be louder

the Z’ cats are different. But yes, if you want to eliminate them, you can do it. May need a tune and may not pass emissions depending where you live.

I'm in Texas and it'll be fine. How're the rear cats different in a z? I know they don't have pup cats; that's why I was asking about eliminating mine up front. I may also sell my rears and put high flows

2001 Z06 came with pup cats + main cats.

the 97-00 cars came with 2 cats unless they were delivered to Cali or state following the Cali standards. The cars in those states came with the pup cats and the PCM was tuned for the added cats from the factory. The 01-04 cars came with the extra pup cats and the 01Z as well.
