Default I need tire…

Looking to quarter my FRC - fun expensive stressful project over the last 3 years — I want my 10 second slip.
700 HP NA per the Westech dyno. 566 ft lbs torque at the wheels on the roller dyno with current cam.
4.10 rear gear to boot. .
Car weighs 2,995 lbs.

Can anyone in the know please advise me on a ft/rr tire and wheel combo to get my 10 second slip. Right now it is a smoke show with 305’s on z06 stockers.

I assume I will break parts so anything like cryo half-shafts or whatever will be done as necc.

How did you get the car to to 2900lb weight vs 3250 stock weight?

scale has to be off.

Doesn't look like he has a cage in it yet. He's got aftermarket race seats, but you can see his door panels are still on and he's still got popup headlights. So no way the car is at 2900lbs without gutting internals and replacing headlights. Just a generous scale.

Op- as for tires, you may want to get a 17 inch wheel for the back and run MT Street ET R's or Nitto NT555R II's in 26×11.5×17. The 17s will give you more sidewall..

I have the Nitto's under 634rwhp/568rwtq but haven't taken the car back to the track since it was procharged last summer. I expect 10 second passes if I don't break anything.

Last track day was September 2020. 428rwhp/390rwtq- 4.10 diff with hardened output shafts grenaded on my first pass. I was on street tires and had an anxious launch so I'll take most of the blame.

what was the cause of this mt et streets tires or hp? 6 speed off the line clutch dump or auto? I dont want to damage my 3.15s Mine is only 368whp. Are the 4.10s thinner gears did you strip the ring gear or pinion or housing grenaded who built the diff?

Are base models weight 3250? I havent been to the track yet but my 95 z28 and 98 z28 both weighed 3340 or 3400 both 6 speed full interior ac.

How much weight is in removing the stock mufflers and stock headlights for the standard plastic lights that are pretty lightweight 50-75lbs?

There is a weight sticky posted where you can get this data. There are a lot of variables from one car to the next based on features. Sport seats, telescoping steering, fog lights, run flats, wheels, A4 vs MN6, heads up display, dual climate heat/ac, f45 or F55 vs Z51 suspension, lexon targa, etc..

Corvette Museum reflects these weights by model for 2001: (assume this is bare bones of each variant)

1460 kg / 3212 lbs (coupe)
1458 kg / 3207 lbs ((convertible)
1409 kg / 3130 lbs ((Z06)

The gear broke teeth as well. This was due to an anxious clutch dump (I knew better) on 18 inch NT555 street tires, not DRs. It was a ring and pinion swap with hardened output shafts. Not a "built" diff like you'd get from say RPM.

so 3212 is stock weight? Id imagine a 99 is the same lose the cats, mufflers, headlight should be 3120 or so without driver id have to get to the track and scale. Thanks for the information.

The car was weighed at West End Alignment (corner balancing) after some suspension/wheel/brake upgrades. When i was running a .720 lift cam !

Anyway it is alot of little things. Detail things. I installed a thinner z06 windshield. Those $$$ AP racing calipers save weight. Stuff like that on top of the obvious stuff. A 2000 FRC is lighter than anything else too. That’s why I have it. It is not a Z06. A Z06 is heavier that a FRC.

Anyway, I appreciate the info. My diff is my weak link. It is just the gears swapped in the OE housing. I had that done when I got the car 20 years back. I figure I need to replace it so i want to try and blow it up with a few hard passes.

I DID just complete my audio build which included ALOT of Killmat, Audio equipment, amp and LOTS of added insulation ! Do it is heavier now.

Diff is an easy swap. So when she gives out its not a bad R&R like some would like to think.

Check out the MTs or the Nitto DR's. You'll likely confirm your weak spot with a few hard launches. Just be sure to have your brother in law with the trailer on speed dial.

And just PS...the FRC is not lighter than the Z06. I also had an FRC, a 99. As did my brother. The Z06 variant is about 48 lbs lighter.

Can you explain an anxious clutch dump because I don’t want to do that.
