I mustve had a rock jump up and left a 1mm chip and 1/4 light crack on the outside of the windshield is there anyway to repair this and it not be noticeable?
Auto retailers sell windshield repair kits, usually work good on small chips and cracks, you might still see some slight defect, but they help prevent cracks from extending further.

Its a small chip left a 1/4" crack im guessing a rock on the highway hit it. On this side of town theres been a bunch of 200ft dumptrucks carry gravel as well as bigger motor vehicles that kick rocks up on the highway after seeing a 1" rock fly up nailing the targa top or whichever i started traveling further back from traffic 40-50 yards. I just seen this today after washing the car last nite and traveling 30 miles across town to slim chickens. The rear wheel/tire set i bought for 150$ rides smooth and feels balanced. How much is the windshield for these the previous owner had replaced it with the later z06 windshield without antenna. Does anyone know where to get the antenna 99 windshield and the installation molding and rubber for future replacement references.
If it’s small enough. It can be repaired by a windshield replacement place. They put a resin in the crack then dry it quickly with a uv light. Not noticeable at all
How much are we looking at for a windshield replacement repairer to repair that small nick or is that not a big enough chip to repair? You can see it chipped the glass windshield leaving a 1/4" crack. Im worried that the crack will then get bigger. Permatex and rainx or 3m sells a repaired but is from the videos looks to be for something bigger as it doesn't show it as an uncracked windshield but a repaired.
Safelight does a very good job, and in Florida it's covered by your insurance.
Theres a safelite close to where i live but their shop looks expensive. How much you think they'd charge to repair a small crack that size? Im worried about the crack expanding.

Had my windshield crack repaired by Safelite. Due to the location high up near the rearview mirror it "glowed" when driving towards the sun. Also if you looked closely at the repair site the spider web of the crack was still visible. Insurance covered the crack repair and it was warrantied for life. Eventually had to have the windshield replaced by insurance because the "glow" of the crack was in my line of sight when driving. Due to the invasive nature of replacing the windshield I would definitely go for the crack repair first.

Do you have the windshield with or without the antenna? Mine was replaced with the no antenna windshield and left the antenna prong just hanging behind the mirror but i just picked up this crack off the highway. About how much was the windshield and replacement total? And did safelite have the trim installation weather seal or reused the original stuff? Just asking as i see this crack or even worse issues if something were to happen to the current windshield.

No antenna, I have a convertible with the HUD. They replaced the windshield side moulding with new. It was about $1500. Definitely get the crack repaired before it spreads. Your crack is so low on the windshield that you should never see it.
TBH I wouldn't worry about it if it's not a concourse show car. These things happen when you drive cars. If the crack starts to spread, or more form from the chip that's a different story; however, those parts store "repair" kits have a 50/50 shot of looking worse and more noticeable than a very minor chip. Furthermore, paying Safelite or anyone else for a windshield repair/replacement might not be worth the expense. Even if it's "covered" by your insurance it counts as a claim and might either cause a rate increase, or be held against you in the event of a future claim.
You know it was hailing nickel size hail last weekend and i didnt notice the crack till after. So its the thinner lightweight convertible or z06 windshield without antenna.
Nobody reproduces the thinner stock Z06/Convertable GM .4mm windshield. It's unfortunate but insurance usually replaces or repairs these things without argument. A new thicker .5MM aftermarket windshield on a daily driver is an improvement TBH as it has no pits.
My windshield was just replaced before i bought the car but i noticed its 99 base model with the antenna in the windshield they go the windshield without antenna and looks thin. That hail storm i think may have did it a couple weeks ago. Maybe it wont spread but id be mad if it did.
I've used the permatex brand windshield repair kit 3x and the results were alright. Not great not terrible. The 3M kit has pretty lousy reviews so I've never tried it. I think next time I might try the professional chip repair, a la safelite.

Just get it fixed through insurance. It's covered under comprehensive so it won't affect your rates. The chip repair is usually free or very low cost, like $60. If it starts to spread you will be sorry.

lol that didn't read like an ad AT ALL. Googled user name found you digging up dormant windshield repair threads on Ford Truck Enthusiasts, garagejournal, Rennlist....cmon man
You can see a professional and have the crack stop drilled. That said, in my experience the crack will eventually begin to travel again. Drilling only puts off the inevitable for a few years.
As already mentioned, the lightweight (thin) Z06 windscreen is no longer manufactured, nor (when last I checked) are the windscreens for the heads-up display. That said, non HUD windscreens work just fine with the HUD.
