Default HVAC Lighting Issue

I tried searching around for a similar issue and the only problem most people have aren't similar to mine. My HVAC buttons do not light up with the lights on and when I open the door, the A/C & Passenger lights flicker for a few seconds and then when the interior lights turn off, they turn off as well. Would one of those rebuild services for HVAC units fix this issue?

Yeah, that's a new one for me!

We offer two restoration options, I'll have our sales team rep who works with the rebuilder take a look at this video and see what his thoughts are or have him send it to them to get their input on whether or not it's something they can fix. I'd imagine they can take care of it! Of course, sometimes they can't know for sure until they've opened it up.

I just removed one from a gentleman's '03 this past Friday to have it sent off for restoration for the normal issue of just the display dying. It's a very. very easy job, even if you haven't done it before. I had everything apart, the climate control removed, and everything put back together in about 25 minutes and was taking my time. If the time comes and you have questions, I'm happy to help answer them!

I'll have our sources take a look at your video and let you know as soon as I get an answer. Our guy who handles coordinating restorations just left for lunch, but I'll keep you posted.

Watching the video again, the flickering behavior almost makes me think there's a bad ground somewhere in the chain or the harness is loose, but that harness that plugs into the back of that unit is typically in there pretty good. Usually takes a little bit of force to unplug them, so it's hard to think a bump in the road loosened it. Just thinking out loud! We'll see what our rebuilder's thoughts are!

Well, looks like it's a new one for our restorer as well. Our rep there said there's not a lot he can do but speculate and wouldn't be able to know anything for sure without physically having the unit to run tests to determine if it's the source of the problem or not. If you have any questions on this, give us a call at (800) 500-1500 and ask for Mark. He's the one who works on restoration orders and would be happy to answer any questions you might have!

Thanks for looking into it Nick. I have to adjust my double din's positioning so I'll pull the HVAC controls out and see if any pins are bent or damaged.

Video if it occuring.
Looks like this was previously converted to LED back lights. Looks like most all of the LEDs have failed and the last couple are on their way out.
Does the center temp display still work? If so I would just go through and replace all of the back lights with new LED's. Any of the people that repair these can do the job.

I think you nailed it. I headed over to @C5 Diag and we swapped units and his worked fine. Fortunate it isn't any kind of wiring issue.
