When I press the button to spray the windshield, I hear the pump powered on but no fluid sprays out of the wipers. I look under the car and all the fluid is sitting on the floor underneath the driver's side. I'm guessing the hoses from the tank/pump to the wipers are broken? Has anyone ever seen this before? How do I replace the hoses? Where can I buy them from?
I went back to the car to see where the washer hose is and the instant I touched the hose, it cracked open! It's so brittle! So I definitely need new hoses. Does anyone know if these hoses from the tank to the two wiper arms connect to nipples? I doubt this part is available but will try to find same sized hoses from somewhere.
I put a crack in the section of the hose that was kinda close to where the pump was and all the washer fluid just leaked out. But the pump wasn't running..... If the pump wasn't running, why would the pump allow the fluid to just pass through so easily? Does this mean the pump is also bad?
The pump is a 'self-priming' style pump which means that there is always a flow through path even when the pump is not running. A 'self-priming' pump with no check valves is good in this application for when the tank runs dry, the pump can be re-primed by just filling the washer fluid tank.
