Default Oil Pressure Sensor Connector Wiring

Been having an issue and realized the wires going to my sensor were extended by someone at some point. Whoever did it used the same color wire for all 3.

How can I know which wire from the harness gets soldered to which wire on the connector? Connector wires seem to be Black, Green, Tan w/ White stripe.

Thanks for your help!

Solution. Cut the bad work out and redo it.

I'm trying to understand if this end of the wires I'm holding is OK or not. My guess is Black would have continuity to GND, gray would have 5V, and tan/white would only have voltage at startup and/or running?

If you still need help later I'll take a picture of my OPS connector and wire colors.

Thank you! Does this mean the gray wire ALWAYS has 5V supply and the tan/white only has voltage when the key is being turned or engine is on?

There is no power to either tan/white or gray when the ignition is off.

Key on engine off.

Connector unplugged---
Tan/white to ground is 5 volts
Gray to ground is 5 volts
Black is the ground

Jumper tan/white to gray - gauge reads pegged. There is no electrical potential difference here.

Tan/white to black is zero. There is a 5v potential difference here, and if the connector is unplugged too, the gauge will go to zero.

I'm sorry I'm posting from mobile.

If you look at the schematic it makes sense. The pcm is putting out a 5v signal and it's reading the resistance of the sensor. So you have signal and two references, one 5v and one ground. You should be able to figure this out.

New plug for OPS.

Plug grey to car black. Plug black to car grey. Plug blue to car tan/white.

Because of my wires and bad work before me, it took a little trial and error to make it right.

Got it figured out and soldered the wires this time. Unfortunately it didn't fix my issue (car reads low oil pressure for a few seconds at start up then goes to normal). Maybe I'll try changing the OPS again.

Maybe install the sender in the available port up front below #1 cylinder since you already have the harness extended instead of dealing with that rear mounted fiasco. Just leave the old sender in place as a plug.

My sender is actually already relocated which will make this easy to try. Is that what you mean?

Alternate location if you wanted...see post #24 - https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ming-c5-2.html
I'm guessing you did the plumbing extension thing to get it out from behind the intake.

Where have you seen other people do this? Have you done it? Any issues?

I just crawled under the car and it looks like this might be right above the fiberglass crossmember. I don't think I'll be trying this since I just changed the oil last weekend and would rather not have that huge mess to clean up without knowing if this will actually fix my issue lol.

I have not done this...just found out about the alternate port location recently. It appears one would need to rotate or remove the alternator to gain access...have not looked at it yet myself.
