Help, Fords killing me
I don't have much money and my '98 Corvette is pretty much factory. I've been getting my butt kicked buy the Ford Lightening and New Cobra, is there anything I can do to change this.. Keep in mind I don't have much money :cry

A4 or M6? If you don't have a lot of $, start with a Blackwing for around $199. That'll probably give you the most bang for the buck :cheers: Or you could do what I did before I had the $ for an intake and cut a big hole in your air filter lid for some nice free HP.

absent nitrous - which I'm not a fan of either - a good start is the Blackwing for ~$200. I'm not familiar with A4 mods such a torque converters - so I can't help you there except to say that most people have good results.

okay.. no juice... and 1000 to spend... I would say Intake, Exhaust.
Look at an intake, then a cat back. If you can get more $ then get some long tubes too. Torque converters and gears are over 1k.

How much horses with the Blackwing installed? also does anyone know how much horses the x pipe and a borla exhaust. Are there any turbos or superchargers for c5's under $1000?

The cheapest turbo is the Cerra at 10k or so.. Cheapest Supercharger is 7k installed. You should see about 15 RWHP with the blackwing. Xpipe wont give you much on a stock car, except get rid of the popping. Borla will get you about what all the rest will 8-12 RWHP.

contact Nate at Xtreme and ask for a package deal. I am willing to bet that he can fill your order, of Blackwing, Borla Stingers, and no-name x-pipe for under 1000.00 shipped. Might even still have enough for install !!!

Re-Gear your diff !!! Easily the most bang for the buck.
That's why the Lightnings go so quick.
I have a Dakota pickup, R/T 5.6 (360), it has 3.90 gears, REAL quick off the line, almost as fast as my C5, to about 30mph - No Kidding

Gears and some cold air induction is the way to go. Try vararam, it works.
Save $$ and don't buy a catback to go fast. They just sound sooo much better you think your going faster. Be smart and spend $$ once.... ie. if you do gears, you should do a t/c and spend for the labor once. Good Luck!!

Look into Diablosport's Predator (BfB on the forum), I'm not sure they cover your model year?? I have it on my A4 and LOVE IT!!!! This was by far the best mod I made to my car followed closely with a modified airbox lid (drilled many, many holes for added airflow).
Be sure to get an exhaust, either Corsa or Borla Stingers!!! These will only add to your enjoyment of the C5 and give you a little increased hp to boot!!

Maybe there's more to it then just modding your car. Maybe you need to have it looked at and find out what's wrong with it. You should NOT be getting you butt kicked by a 4000lb truck. And you should be real close to the supercharged Cobra. (This assuming all are stock). Have you had the car on a dyno to see where your starting point is?

How many mil;es on your car? You may need new plugs and wires.
