Sony Head unit does not power on
I had a Sony single din head unit (Mex-M100BT) installed by an audio shop about 1.5 wks ago and this past Sat morning I noticed while driving it just wasn't on at all. Turned the car off, turned it back to accessories. Nothing. Totally dead. Checked my battery and it's ok. All my other electronics, and hvac unit working. Prior to it going dead, it would power on/off like the OEM radio would do. (It would shut off when you open the door).
I will be taking it back to the audio shop to address the problem, but before I do that I noticed the Sony manual for the head unit recommends running power from the battery direct to the head unit due to the internal amp in the unit. I asked the shop service writer about it before install and he said they don't do that and they've installed many head units on Vettes with no issues. I know C5 radio and Bose systems + aftermarket adapter kits are a huge pain and may not work right. Any ideas? I want to be informed on what the potential problems could be before I go back to see them.
Thanks
