Default Help Check Engine Light for the New Year

I have a check engine light. Steady not flashing. No current codes in the computer. Have several codes but all with "H" suffix. Any help would be appreciated. :flag

All codes are with an H so none appear current.

P0300
P1431

0300 is an engine misfire, but I don't see it as current. Would the light remain on for an old code?

Make sure your gas cap is tight...

I checked it but can't say if it was lose at the time or not. Have filled since the light. Would the cap cause a misfire code?

It will cause the check engine light to come on... the cap should click at least 3 times to be tight.

Anyone know what code the fuel cap not being tight will throw?

I don't recall what it is, but the 1431 is a fuel level sensor code.
