I haven't done it but I can certainly see why it would be hard. My only advice would probably be to have a helper turn one of the wheels with the transmission in gear so that the driveshaft will turn slowly and you can try to push the engine back onto it when it suddenly lines up.

On a factory batwing the k member must be lowered and out of the way. We support the k member with a transmission jack or completely remove it.

We also use a tall jack stand to place the torque far up in the tunnel.

I have only done the job on manuals. A quality metal alignment tool for the clutch really helps. After that it is getting the angles correct. We place a jack with cup removed under the pan to adjust the angle of the motor without catching on the motor. Go slow, don't force it. Don't use the bellhousing or torque tube bolts to pull anything together, the aluminum can strip out and further you may not find out the threads are damaged until the bolt is missing down the road or you do the job again.
