I should have done this in one post but here I am.
I think I got my brakes figured out, now shocks. Again, I don't track the car but I like wrenching it in the twisties!
Can someone explain the difference between stock C5 shocks and Z51 shocks? Is the a better upgrade that bolts in? I super appreciate all you masters (and mistresses)!
First suggestion for shocks C6 Z06 (least expensive bang for buck shock wise)
For a little more the Bilstein Sport.
C6 Z51 sway bars are also good bang for buck and will work well with above.
Oh, two good suggestions for the price of one.
This is all bolt on? I searched the forum for a list of bolt on stuff that is worth the value, perhaps I'll start it with the brakes/shocks/sway bar info! (Any GM part numbers would be warmly accepted!)

Above is the right direction.
This is what I did for the set-up on my 04 stick vert. Street and no tracking in the selection of parts. Keep in mind that suspension geometry/ratios must be kept relatively proportionate to spec in order to prevent understeer/oversteer concerns.
I assembled the following for my car and it handles extremely well for a Vert:
C6 Z51 front spring
C5 Z51 rear spring
C5 Z06 front sway bar
C6 Z51 rear sway bar
C6 Z06 shocks
Poly bushings
Metal end links (if not already equipped)
I sourced the springs, and sways used. The end links were new.
If you are looking for c6Z06 shocks the best place to find used ones is in the C6 parts section. Many of the C6Z owners are ditching those shock and either going to adjustable or B8 Bilstein/DRM Bilstein for better handling.
