Default Need to replace oil pressure sensor AGAIN!

Like it says another OP sensor has failed. No need to discuss how to get to it I cut the hole years ago. This will be third one. Ive been using AC Delco. Is there a brand that will hold up better? Now that I have an access door it’s not hard to change, but still a pain in the butt.
Thanks for any advice. 🍻

Normally on something like this, I try to stay with OEM. NOT on this part!!! I bought the 1 year guaranteed sender from O'Reilly about 4 years ago. Still works fine. They had a lifetime warranty on a better one, but I went this route. Not sorry yet!!

Looks like they only make the S version now….probably not brass ——but interesting comment from another blog:

“If it is the Oil Pressure Sensor, It's hit or miss with the Oil Pressure Sensors available for replacement, so I suggest you go with a brass one from O'Reilly BWD Part #S4202. The #S4202 has been improved in design by adding 1/8th of an inch to the plastic on top allowing the sensor to be raised (moved up) higher (away) from heat which is suspect of most failures”.

I've replaced mine 2x now. I think they all just fail over time.

Put a relocation kit in there this time

Unfortunately, they're ALL trash. At this point, I think they're all made in the same factory by the same 7 year old slave in China and just put in different boxes. The good brass ones appear to be out of production and available supply has been exhausted. Now all that's left are the crappy, failure-prone aluminum ones. I'd say get the one with the lifetime warranty so at least you won't need to spend money on them anymore.

Any way to wrap them in heat-resistant material? Gold foil tape?

I have 2 vehicles, 20 year old corvette, 230,000 miles on the avalanche, use the same sending unit. Zero problems. Besides leaking, what actually causes the unit to fail?

That's a good question, not sure if anyone knows for sure. I've only seen one actually pop from pressure and let oil get to the other side of the switch. Most of the time they fail and indicate either 0 or off-scale high. I'm not sure why Corvettes tend to be so failure prone though. I've gone though 4 on my Corvette, but never had issues with either Tahoe I had despite being the same part number for the sensor and more or less the same engine.
