I had my car sitting for about a week while i did some repairs headlight restoration, swapped gas doors with a factory torch red fuel door and today came out and it just cranks and doesnt even hesitate to start. The only thing ive done since driving it was swapped the front wheels. I tried checking fuel pressure said 0 but sometimes the fuel rail harbor freight pittsburgh kit doesnt work correctly which is why i sometimes try a different cars fuel rail to confirm. Is it possible for it to simply be out of gas the last time i had drove it was when i had changed fuel doors and drove it to run some errands directly after. I just put new wheels and tires upfront this weekend didn't start the car ran into this problem.
It did start after attempting to video it with the crank no start issue i drove it ran fine but was running rough for a while.
Well after going to attempt to get video of the no start condition it started roughly. Its running kind of rough but will run when throttled then jump back down to idle. The cam isnt too big elgin 1830 286/282 220/224 112 .575 lift, tsp headers and a volant air filter on a stock auto trans 99 corvette.
Hopefully i wont run into this issue again. It had standred for 30 minutes checking the fuel pressure, battery disconnect and multiple cranks. It is my only daily driver at the moment and have errands to run daily.
You have to determine that you have fuel pressure at the rail, it should be around 55-60 psi, the next thing to do is pull the codes, it could be a failing cam sensor.

You got to be kidding me but yes i guess ill look into that as a possibility? Are these videos helpful enough to see whats going on or how to diagnose the problem? It was just straight cranking this morning for about 30 minutes when i was trying to run errands then went to get video of it crank no start condition and started right up but sounded as a big cammed ls1. It runs and drives good took it for a 10 minute drive not far up the street came back and still starts fine but if i run into this issue again ill have some problems. Thanks ill check the DIC codes. It wil shop codes for cam or crank sensor if this is the issue?
If the crank sensor fails it will not start, if cam sensor fails it will cause hard starting problems, you might also want to clean the MAF sensor and throttle body as well as making sure there is no vacuum leaks, hope this helps.
I went to run errands 2 different times with about 30 minutes of city/hwy driving and the car ran good. One thing i did notice is with this texas heat the temps do get up to 208 degrees at a stop with the stock thermostat and fans set to come on at 200 degrees.
I cleaned the maf sensor two months ago when i put on a volant ait filter and the car doesnt have any codes but yes the car is running smooth currently.
Maybe fuel pump is going bad? Fuel filter? Bad gas? Bad ground wire? Did you wash the car recently?
No i did unplug and sand restore the surface finish of the headlights and the plugs got wet but that was weeks ago. After getting it started this morning it cleared out but yes id hate to run into this problem again. The ground splice pack that hangs loosely directly behind the battery is kind of rough condition but the metal prongs that are incased are intact. I had just seen that some of the wire spade connectors had electrical tape around them. Ive never unplugged it but i think thats what its too. Someone had posted that its the ground splice pack for the TAC, maf sensor, 4 o2 sensor grounds and whatever else. Atleast after overlooking the vehicle thoroughly thats all i seen that looked somewhat tacky.
