I have a 2000 C5 with about 54,000 miles that I bought late last year. I’ve had a wierd problem a few times when staring the car after its been sitting for a few days. The car starts with no problem but sounds likes it’s misfiring badly. If I shut off the ignition, the car keeps on sputtering badly and won’t shut off. If I hit the gas a few times the car settles down and starts running smoothly. I can then shut the car off with no problem. Once the car settles down it drives smoothly with no issues. Any ideas?
What did everyone suggest may be the problem when you posted in the Tech section?
Sorry, I’m new to this board and didn’t post my problem to the tech board. I repost in the Tech section after I’ve read a few of the post already there.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Sounds like either a fuel pump issue or an ignition switch related one…hard to diagnose on my computer…if you have a DVOM place one lead on battery positive and the other lead on one of the test points on top of fuse 13 which is the fuel pump fuse…you may need someone else to start the car…when it’s started you’ll read the voltage drop across the ignition switch on the DVOM…you should see no more than 0.1 to 0.2 on the DVOM…may be a good idea to put a fuel pressure gauge on the engine too !!
