Default Paging Matt G!

Hey Matt:

I know that you are running catless on your STROKER LS1 and using B&B RT 66 exhuast. I am probably going to be running the exact same set up through 3 inch exhaust for my 427 Stroker and wanted to see whether you recommend this set up.

Running catless was way to loud for me thru my prts with heads and cam and i would imagine what your running still sounds very aggressive at idle and normal driving without being too obnoxiously loud? How is the overall sound at WOT?

Under normal driving conditions, is your car/set up, as loud or louder than a heads and cam car running cats, but going thru an aggressive exhaust like prts or corsa indys. I am pretty sure i can going to do the same set up but with electric cut-outs, so i can get real radical when i want and when i'm at the track, etc.

THanks Matt:

I ran the B&B Route66 with no cats on my heads/cam setup for quite awhile and it sounded very good. To be honest, the car didnt get much louder when I had the 436ci put in it.. The idle is a bit more agressive sounding, and the sound is a bit more deep and it growls a little more but the overall volume of the exhaust did not get THAT much louder. Of course exhaust sound is totally relative to whom is listening to it..

I had the Corsa Indy system on the car with no cats when I had heads/cam and the sound was just too harsh for my liking.. I loved the idle and WOT sound but the part throttle acceleration through town was too obnoxious for me.

I feel the B&B Route66 catless setup I have is PERFECT for street, and a bit too quiet for my liking at the strip. If you go with the cutouts like you are planning, then you will be all set and will have the perfect setup in my opinion.. The B&B Route66s have no resonance, a very nice deep lumpy sounding idle and a great roar at wide open throttle.. The exhaust sound is not harsh at all. This setup is perfect for the person that wants to remain civil on the streets and not draw a ton of attention to your car..

To an untrained ear, a person may not realize you have a lot of mods done to your car actually.. I had a few street rod guys around here get me to race them because they thought my car was stock.. We had a bit of fun on a country road and they quickly learned my car was not stock! :)

All in all I would say you would be very happy with the same setup I have.. However, I bet it will be more quiet than your PRT/CATs/HEads/Cam setup you have been running.. Probably not by much though..

Here is a very good video that shows the sound of my car driving away from the camara.. It is quite big though so I wouldnt recommend it for someone on dialup.

I hope this helps a bit!
