Hey guys,
I'm going to check out a 2001 C5 tomorrow, it's about a 2 hour drive from my house so I have done about as much homework on it as I can to make the trip worthwhile. I could end up buying it as it is in my price range. My question: it's at a used car lot and the guy told me there are no codes showing. I do know how to read the codes from the DIC, if I see history codes do I need to drive it a certain distance to make them reappear as current if the problem still exists?
Some emissions related DTC (diagnostic trouble codes) will take more than one drive cycle before they set the MIL (malfunction indicator light). Bring a code reader with you that displays emission systems status to give you a better assessment.
