european taillight owners....please help me with problem
guys, i have a major problem that I have had off and on ever since i installed the european lights. here is the story.
bought the lights from extreme motorsports.
installed them.
worked fine for about 1 month....then i have no rear tail lights when i turn on my nightime lights. break lights work though.
called extreme, they said it could be the wiring harness
they sent me the harness i installed it and they worked fine for about 2 months. now they are doing the same thing.
also, during this time, my battery has died twice ( new battery about 1 year old) and during this time when I push in the brakes during the day, my dash lights turn on until i release the brake. then they turn off.
now, if i wiggle the connector in the rear where the wiring harness plugs in. the rear lights flicker off and on. Last night I removed the harness and re-connected it, this appeared to fix it and even wiggleing the lights didnt effect it. drove around today and BAM, they arent working again.

Is any of the insulation melted? Did you make sure the harness is tied up away from the exhaust???? A few have had this type of problem, and burnt wire insulation was the culprit......causing a short.

I agree...I wouldn't think the headlights have anything to do with it...I can see how the wiring harness for the rear lights could melt...you just have to make sure you secure the wiring harness real good, tucking it in as much as you can and keeping it nowhere near the muffler and taking up all the slack...good luck...(I have the Euro headlights and taillights and have had no problems...)

sorry for the confusion, was talking about the euro tail lights. I will check the wires for being melted from exhaust. if thats not the case what the heck else could it be?

C5VETTE,
Is the harness a plug and play or the type you splice in? Since you're wiggleing seems to fix the problem I would think that the problem is in the connector. If this is the case try crimping the female side of the connector a little so it will make a better connection. If the harnes is spliced in I would suggest checking the splice and making sure the connection is tight there as well.
Good luck.
