I'm looking to purchase some drag tires and rims. Everyone keeps telling me to go with Mickey Thompson ET Street Drags 26x11.5x16. What sizes rims should I get then. Do I also need to raise the rear back since I have dropped it an inch
depends on what rim you go with... if you use a firebird rim ... then some grinding is involved.. you should not have to raise your car to fit drag rims.
CCW through John or Roger Vinci (a distributor) at Vinci Hi-Performance is the only way to go if you want consistant traction for bracket racing the ET Streets have the same rollout as the stock rear tires which is important for shift points. GOOD LUCK

Not sure if when you said drag tires you meant slicks. You have other options as well as varying costs.
Drag Radials are a radial tire with soft compound.
Made by BFG in 275x17 which fit a standard front C5 17" by 8.5" wheel or 315x17 which can be put on an aftermarket y2k or zo6 style 9.5" (barely) rim or ZR-1 grandsport style 11" rim or even a CCW 17x12" rim.
Nitto makes drag radials the same sizes as BFG and their compound is a litter harder for better wear but you give up some traction.
Slicks is the MT ET Street in the sizes mentined about 10.5 x 16 or 11.5 x 16.
The CCW Drag Package is a great wheel package that includes wheels and tires in the classic fat rear skinny front combo. The run well over $2K for the set. The 16" rim will require some grinding to the upper a-arm in the rear.
The drag radial route you can pick up a used set or rears from about $350.
You can fall anywhere inbetween that up to the full CCW drag setup price.
Others have started to use a Hooiser slick but I don't recall the specs.
I am using Centerline 16x9.5 with 7" backspacing from summitracing with MT 26x11.5x16. The A arm needed some grinding, but that is it. The rims where about $210ish each. Huge saving over the CCW wheels, but then again I do not have skinnies up front :(
Do you have to have a 7" backspacing or can you go larger or smaller. I see a lot of different spacings on the rims. Also what are widths and rim sizes can I run with those tires. Will a 17 in rim only fit on the BFG or can I use a 16-15, and what widths should I consider when buying the rim also ???????????? Also what bolt spacing am I looking for?
