I have a 99 vert and I have a haltech tric with a MAf translator and thanks to GM a zo6 intake manifold. When I accelerate the car hesiatates for a second them kicks in kinda like when traction control comes on but not as bad. I put new plugs and wires about six months ago. When I got the MAf translator it helped but now with the new intake it seems a lot worse and the translator wont fix it. Is it possible I have a bad plug or wire? It does it low RPM's and when it stops the car comes on very strong like no problem at all. It is worse when the car is cold. Is it a air fuel problem or something else? I have not had a chance to put it on a dyno to check the air/fuel since the halltec was put on also should I put on a maf sensor or a larger throttle body?
I'm not really sure what a Halltech tric is, but I'd say it's an air related problem. Make sure you don't have any air leakes before the MAF sensor. Make sure there are no leaks anywhere. Examine everything very closely. If you find no leaks, I'd say it's time to see a respected tuner.
Although you didn't post this, I bet you also removed the air screen in MAF end.
Yes?
And it happens between 2,000 and 3,000 rpms, but not above 3,500. Plus, it's really noticable in third and fourth gears. And, when you "snap on" the throttle, but not when the throttle is applied smoothly.
Allan ,
it could be a faulty 02 Sensor ...You may also want to check your spark plug wires. I experienced a similiar problem and it was due to a fried Spark Plug wire on my #1 Cyl .
Re: Car hesitating on acceleration. (BlackC5Vette)
Often the burnt wire will be visible (but not always ..sometimes it may be burnt internally ) , if your running Headers the clearance between the wire and the header on Cyl #1 and #3 is pretty tight. So I would reccomend that you buy a Complete set of Wires and change them all..Install some KoolSox while your at it.
P.S If you don't want to buy a new set of wires you can always take your car to the dealer ..They have a scanner that can tell if there is an impedance problem with one of your wires.
