First post here and need some help. I have searched but no answer for my code. Here is my issue. I have a 1999 6MT that got the BCM wet and I replaced with a unit from a Dino's salvage ( correct number 09381399 ). I followed the "learn" procedure to a T and I got the PCM and BCM to talk and "shake hands" . The issue I have is I still have a no start or no crank every time I turn the key. I have the code PCM P1630 which I know is " Theft Deterrent Learn Mode Active" and I cant get the code to go away no matter how many times I clear it. Do I have to have a Tech II to clear this? Can a lock smith do this? Please help. thanks.
Other DTC I have but I dont think that they matter.
a1-rdcm B2263 H
a1- rdcm B2265 H
AO- LDCM B2262 H
AO-LDCM B 2264 H
BCM B2647 H C
You should reset all the codes and see what comes back. When you replace a BCM with a used one it may need to be programed using a tech2 for the correct options that are on your car, that is if the used one did not have the same options. The 1630 means the BCM needs to learn the key resistance. The following steps should let the PCM/BCM relearn the key.
Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF for 11 minutes. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF for 11 minutes. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF for 11 minutes or until DTC P1630 sets. Turn OFF the ignition for 30 seconds. Turn ON the ignition leaving the engine OFF and wait 30 seconds. Hopefully they will resolve your problem. These instructions were taken from other posts that can be found on this site.
