Default Metal piece on drain plug

Hello, I was doing a routine oil change today and saw the following on my magnetic drain plug. The car runs excellent and does not make any kind of noise. The piece is flat. The engine is a stock ls6 with 60k miles, only engine work that has been done is replacement of valve springs with new style ls6 springs about 5k miles ago. Any thoughts?

Used to send my Lycoming engine filter in regularly and it is common to see small particles but that looks to be fair size. Good luck!

I hope I'm wrong. BUT, it looks to me like the broken end tip from a valve spring. Since valve spring work was just done, that's my guess. If you look closely at it, it does have a slight radius visible, on what looks to be the inside. Again, I hope I'm wrong. If you still have the old springs, I'd inspect them closely. If nothing is amiss, if it was me, I'd start removing and inspecting the new springs. We're guide seals changed? Guides? A lot of unknowns here. Did you recently install the mag drain plug? If yes, this could possibly be something that has been in there that somehow ended up in the motor from GM assembly? Best of luck.......
