Guys/girls with the C5 stock shifter. Do you like them? Are the throws too long? My B&M short shifter is way too notchy for me. I'm thinking of buying a OEM stock stick shifter.
I like the stock C5 shifter but shortened, and with the lower box rebuilt if it needs it. And a 'venom mod' washer or 2.
I think the B&M has fairly stiff self-centering springs that can be removed? or was that the Hurst... either way, self-centering springs are not needed, makes the effort much too high.
I had the stock shifter before putting in the MGW shifter. The throws were longer with the OEM shifter, but I really didn't think it was that bad. I enjoyed the leverage that the longer lever gave me. If I hadn't gotten the MGW as a gift, I'd still be perfectly happy with the OEM setup.
I did not find that much difference in the MGW (recommended by many on this Forum and my go-to-Vette Mechanic) and the OEM sifter. I kept the OEM just in case I wanted to go back to it..

In addition to my C5 I also have a Ford Focus ST with a 6sp - on the C5 I just had the lower box rebuild with delrin bushings and will do the same with the ST - I read so much pro-and-con about all these shifters that for a mostly-street-driven car I think its best to just leave them alone....
