I was under the car today that was on a lift and I was looking at the transaxle. Which part of it uses Dexon 3 automatic tranny fluid (my car is a 6 speed manual)? I thought the entire thing used 75W90 or 80W90?
Oh yeah, and another thing is I saw there was a small leak in the back :mad cause the underside of the transaxle is wet. Whats happenin to my car?
I also see it has CV boots like a FWD car does. Do these boots go bad?
where to begin...
There is no transaxle.. The tranny and rear end are seperate units.
The 6-spd uses auto tranny fluid. The rear uses standard gear lube, again both are seperate.
Not sure about your leak.. look to see where its coming from..
The CV boots will hold up much better than those used on a FWD car. These don't move as much. Its a good idea to use silicone on them to keep them from drying out.

Repair your leak first most likely seal between trans and diff. Then trans uses auto trans fluid rear is synthetic gear oil recc amsoil . Be sure when you reseal use light coat anarobic sealer also with new oring

How hard is this to do? And FYI I've done tranny removal and rebuild jobs before, but they were all front wheel drive transaxles. If its not leaking too badly im just gonna say scruit.
