The passenger window and passenger door lock on my 2001 Vert occassionally will not engage. Thus, the window will not raise or lower and the door lock is equally non responsive. These issues occur at the same time. I had both window motors replaced about 9 months ago. Drivers side window motor and door lock work perfectly and consistently. Any suggestions on why this intermittent issue occurs? Also, any trouble shooting advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!
I have the same problem from time to time, the wires in the harness aren't contacting like they should. It's a small blue one, there's threads about it around.
Actually the problem is the 6 pin black connector that is the problem. The blue connector is the wiring for the speakers in the door. The black connector has two always hot battery voltage connections that provide power to the door control module and the door control module controls ALL functions for the door such as the locks, power mirrors, window operation etc.
Refer to this link and look at the 3rd from the last picture in the first post:
That is the MOST LIKELY cause of your issue. Fish the connectors out of the passenger side A Pillar and separate the two halves of the black connector. You will most likely find that the pins in your connector are deformed like those in the above thread.
Disconnect the battery negative post and use a sharp pointed tool (awl or dental pick) to reshape the contact surfaces so that they make proper contact when the two halves of the connector are mated. If you don't disconnect the battery you are likely to cause sparks and blow other fuses as besides the 2 battery voltages there is also a ground in the black connector.
got this from an old post by Bill Curlee, HTH One cause of your door window not working could be a stuck window regulators mechanism. The easiest solution that has worked for numerous forum members is to just jar the door while pressing the down or up button. Some people have even had to slam the door. For the most part, this will solve the problem
The most probable cause is a dirty relay contact inside of the Right Door Control Module (RDCM) The relays are known to go bad due to arcing. There have been a few people who have preformed surgery on the DCM's and have replaced the bad relay with good success. Some have just replaced the module. NOTE!! There expensive!!!
Then there are people (my self included) that have found the door wiring harness connectors to be the problem. The wiring harness exits the door between the two door hinges through an accordion tube. Then they connect the the main wiring harness behind the kick panel in the foot well. I manipulated the plugs and got mine to work normally.
Pulled back the boot between the door and car body. Wiggled the wire harness. Now, the window and door lock work just fine.
When I have more time, I'll address the issue more thoroughly.
Really appreciate the help!!!
