Default Column lock bypass methods question

Hello all,
I recently got myself a 99 corvette, and have been doing a little work to it. I ordered an LMC5 planning to install it to make sure I don't ever run into the column lock issue these cars have happen. But today before installing it I discovered a little box under my steering wheel with nothing but a label for www.doctorsdons.com on it. After researching, it seems that this is a also a column lock bypass.

So.. my question is should I install the LMC5? I see in other posts that I found people saying the LMC5 is the "preferred" method, but no one says why it is preferred. Does it achieve something that this little box doesn't?

If I install the LMC5, should I leave this little box in there, or should I remove it and plug the original wire back in?

Thanks!

I MUCH prefer the CLB.................as you already have installed. The LMC5 has multiple problems with the "brown wire" mod and having to call Richard for multiple install issues. CLB works the 1st time every time.

Others will disagree................... But you are good to go!

I was in the same situation as you. I bought an LMC5 for my car and found out later the car already had a Corvettes of Houston bypass installed. I put the LMC5 in the rear storage compartment. If my bypass fails I can install the LMC5 in a few minutes, or if I ever come across another C5 owner that is stranded he can have it to get home.

The LMC5 installs in the plug for the BCM, eliminating anything in the car.
