Default replacing 99 passenger air bag

Has anyone removed, unplugged or replaced the passenger air bag or even the drivers side? It only takes 12 volts to reploy the air bags correct as its a 2 wire plug? May i ask is the SDM the only thing that senses a crash and deploys the air bags? My 99 doesnt have the glove box key "passenger air bag off" option. Someone else on this forum said they had a rebuilt title or previously wrecked corvette and the codes were erased but didnt mention how maybe at the dealer ship and new sdm reprogrammed or a scanner reset. I seen a couple scanners that said they reset air bag codes and has anyone had experience with a tech 2 or other scanner that has the SDM option to reset the C codes "or turn off SDM air bag functions" and air bag dash light or simply reset the codes by the scanner,

With the "dash light for air bag" and air bag codes "deployment commanded" for both driver and passenger side air bags is it possible for the replacement air bag to deploy if i simply install it and plug it in the two wire connector? Or should i leave it unplugged and even then is it possible for it to come in contact with power and deploy on its own if i leave the plug dangling under dash or is it best to plug it in and nothing will blow up in my face?

The corvette has codes for
"deployment commanded" B0051
"right front deployment loop" B0017
"left front deployment loop" B0026
"Deployment commanded with loop malfunction present" B0053

These are the 4 codes present as c codes it has with dash air bag light from the SDM which can only be reset or replaced with new one at dealership programmed to cars vin i was told from a different corvette owner here on the forum and is way expensive. With those C codes or crash codes is it possible for the SDM to still trip "deployment commanded" and set off the replacement air bag?
So what do those codes mean and is it safe to replace the passenger airbag or will those codes trip it and deploy? They are C codes Current codes not H or history stored codes i was told they are saved in the sdm air bad module. I asked this place if they can reset my 99 SDM thats already programmed to my cars pcm vin and i think they told me they could for 50$+ but dont want to waste the money unless i know for sure they can turn off the codes and dash light or reset sdm. Another member told me his was wrecked or rebuilt title and some how he had got rid of the codes i have on the display instrument cluster and no dash air bag light. The previous owner replaced drivers side air bag obviously as it says right front deployment commanded but no way tell if its plugged in or not and am just trying to replace the passenger air bag as well as erase the 4 codes it has under SDM. Theres no way once air bag deployments been commanded thru the module for it to suddenly blow up in my face after putting a replacement air bag its a 195$ air bag i dont want to waste and what does it take 12 volts to the 2 wires to deploy it?

This place resets SDM or air bag codes for 50$ i thought she said they could clear codes off my factory 99 sdm or air bag module. Airbag Module Reset | MyAirbags but once reset and airbag mounted and plugged in no way for it to deploy unless wrecked again by me huh? I seen a few expensive scanners that said they erased air bag codes but cant confirm.

May i ask what deployment loop means and loop malfunction present? Does that means its stuck in an open loop from the deployment commanded on both air bags and whats does loop malfunction mean or is it just a code that means it was wrecked before and needs the sdm reset or codes erased.

Im sure plenty of people have replaced air bags them selves on vehicles that were wrecked or had the air bags deployed. This c5 corvette tech forum is somewhat small. I think the f-bodies which are more common have the same SDM or little silver box by the e brake under console.

The drivers side airbag has obviously been replaced as it has "left front deployment loop" and "deployment commanded" C code but no telling if the air bag is plugged into the steering column. Trying to replace the passenger side air bag without damaging it and also turn off the 4 codes and air bag dash light with a scanner reset, tech 2 or send the factory sdm programmed to my 99 corvette pcm, vin, bcm for a full reset for 50$ to myairbags.com to get rid of the crash history more importantly get rid of air bag light and codes.

Thanks any help with this is appreciated. I may try ls1 tech someone has had to have had experience with air bags deployed and airbag replacement as well as getting rid of air bag light and codes.

Do all SDM airbag modules store these codes once "deployment commanded" untill they are reset or replaced? The c5 corvette has a far advanced DIC or codes to display vs other vehicles ls1 f bodies which may have been wrecked and no codes noticed maybe an airbag light. A different SDM wont just plug n play erasing codes correct and has to be programmed by dealership to the cars vin?

The other member that mentioned his had been wrecked but somehow didn't have the crash history codes stuck or air bag light maybe an advanced scanner reset, tech 2 or dealership done job with replacing air bag and sdm after a wreck.

Im trying to get rid of the 4 codes it has above and replace air bag or is it fine to replace air bag and attempt to have codes erased after theres no way deployment could be stuck commanded or loop malfunction code which could cause deployment at a later date once plugged in the 2 wire plug to airbag.
Id leave the airbag disconnected till i get the deployment commanded and loop malfunction codes reset or erased but it may be way up in under the dash so i couldnt plug it in once having the codes erased from the DIC or SDM.

They may just be stored codes from the previous owners wreck that cant be erased by hitting the reset button to show its had accident history i was told they couldnt be erased but like i said i posted about this last year and another member said his had been wrecked and the codes werent present or stuck under SDM DIC like mine are. Im sure theres easier way to erase or reset them from the cars memory i take it theyre stored in the SDM which needs to be reset?
