Default Convertible deck lid won’t open

Hi everyone, I am back in the Corvette world with a new to me 2003 convertible. One minor issue, the button to release the deck lid to put the top down isn’t working. Anyone familiar with this problem, and what’s needed to fix?
Thanks!

Hey YellowGS ......... Good chance that it is a blown fuse or bad relay for that tonneau hatch .... the schematics that I viewed show that the #17 fuse and the #41 relay operate the hatch ... these are located within the passenger side fuse compartment under the floor panel below the glove box .... hope this helps .... Have the same car and need to check out the fuse for my cigarette lighter which just failed on the weekend ... good luck to both of us .... Archman

Thanks!

There's a good chance it's the switch. I bought mine at Davies Corvette in New Port Richey, Fla. IIRC, it was around $25. Mine got to the point that it didn't work half the time. I used the emergency cable more often than not. Your switch is 20 years old. A new switch may not fix what's wrong, but it's at the end of its service life, and if it's not bad now, it probably will be soon. By all means, check the fuses, but my $$ is on the switch. Nothing lasts forever. Mine started acting up before it failed totally. I'd push it 2 or 3 times, then 4 or 5 times, etc. Best of luck........

Where is the emergency cable located? I looked behind the seats and couldn’t find it

Thanks for the assistance

As a follow up and something that hasn't been mentioned ... there is a lockout between the trunk and the tonneau lid ... tonneau will not open if trunk is open and vise versa .....

Default Issue resolved - Thanks

Thanks everyone for the assistance. I did replace the fuse and relay, and also coincidentally, Archman, there were times the trunk was open and I didn’t realize this was causing the lockout.

seems to be working properly now. If I have anymore issues I’ll get the button replaced.
I did find the emergency cable, so at least I’m not worried of getting stuck and can’t put the top back up.

nice to be back in the Corvette world, always great people willing to share knowledge

IIRC, you should hear a chime (3 times?) if you try opening the cover with the trunk open. I still think you'd be wise to buy a new switch while they're still available........
