Default Adding a push button start troubles

Hello all,
I decided I wanted to add a push button start to my C5 to modernize it a little more, and in my other car I have it and I really like being lazy and not having to take the keys out of my pocket :P

I bought a kit by EasyGuard, and for the most part I have everything working, except a few oddities.

For one, if I don't connect a relay to the key detection wires, things just act weird. Opening the door will act like the key is turned to on and the radio powers up for a few seconds. Also, the Lock on the remote with the start button system doesn't work unless I press it immediately after pressing unlock (unlock works fine every time). But otherwise, it works, it will turn accesories on and start the car. I should also mention I did the vats resistor mod, and also there is a steering wheel lock bypass installed.

If I install a relay on the key detection wires as the guy in this video did (
), lock and unlock both work fine. Accessory power and starting the motor still work. But now, the car auto locks within a few seconds of unlocking it. And when unlocking it most of the time some type of alarm goes off. I believe this to be a factory alarm or something. My horn isn't working atm, but the horn relay is going off until I actually turn the car on with the push button. Also during this time the interior lighting doesn't come on regardless to if the door is open or closed. If I let it just sit there it will continue doing this for a minute or two and when it eventually stops with the alarm, the interior lights will come on.

Anyone else done this and can help, or just have ideas on what could be wrong here? I'll provide more information as needed, just not sure what all info someone might need to help diagnose this.

Thanks

Does sound like the factory alarm is interfering with normal operation. When you press the button it disarms the alarm. It's because you have the vats bypass. Pressing the button is the equivalent of putting in a key and turning it to disarm the alarm. If the alarm is still active locking the car with the lock button on the door controls will arm the alarm. Then when you come back and open the car with the easyguard remote that will set off the alarm. As you've found pressing the button will disarm the alarm. Hope this puts you in the right direction.

The factory ignition switch includes a SPDT switch that tells the computer if the key is in or out, if the key is in and the door is opened the buzzer will sound so you don't lock the car with the keys in it. The small black wire is the switch Common, the small green/ black wire is the Normall Open contact (key in) and the small tan wire is the Normally Closed contact (key out). Could the new module wiring have any of these three mixed up?

I don't think the green/black & tan wires lead to a single SPDT relay. Rather they are ground wires for 1 relay each. So 2 relays total. They share the black common wire as a switch.

Those three wires are not kit wires, they are factory wires in the car along with the large load and power feed wires that go to the factory ignition switch, not a relay. Is it possible if any kit wires connected to these are mixed up?

Right. I was just mentioning that all 3 wires (black, green/black and tan) are all grounds.

Not sure how Easyguard works. But judging by how our system operates, you need to install a Can Bus module to disarm factory security when you open the door and start your vehicle. There are only a couple of companies that make these adapters and they are only available through their dealers. Same modules are used for Remote Start installs as well. Let me know if you need anymore info. We'll be glad to help.
