Default too low?

so as some of you know by my other post I have been having cooling issues lately. My vette rides pretty low. I am not sure exactly how low it is but basically if I make a fist and put it under the car with my thumb touching the bottom of the car my pinkie is touching the ground. It has been this way for about 2 years now with no issues. Recently I put on a front splitter and that is when I NOTICED the cooling issue. I am not sure if it was there before I put the splitter on or not but I hadn't noticed it running hot. Is it possible that it is too low now and not enough air is going through? We also put a splitter on my girlfriends Vette at the same time but hers is stock height and there have been no temp issues at all nothing changed temp wise since we put it on

Remove that front splitter, it is the cause of higher temperatures because it is reducing air flow to the radiator. Many cases of this happening have been posted here on the forum.

What splitter? Same in both cars, both cars the same? I've been looking into splitters, some cause problems, others seem fine. It has to allow airflow to the center and don't remove the air damn underneath. That's my understanding so far anyway

^^ It's a vented splitter so you shouldn't have too much of an issue with it. speaking NOT from experience, but you will probably notice slightly warmer temps- but shouldn't be overheating if your fans are kicking in and doing their job.

I have asked a few guys who run the unvented splitter/lip and they have all confirmed overheating issues, so depending on the design of this particular lip, it's probably not doing as good of a job as the stock setup. but again, you shouldn't be overheating if all else is working properly.

as always, check for debris that may be clogging up the radiator condenser/fins and fan area. I've heard this can cause some major issues in temps with what at first glance seems like "not that much" debris.

It's still where the air flows to get to the radiator. Take it off and see if it doesn't fix your issue. I can only see that design hurting the cooling, not helping or even being neutral.

Well I took the splitter off and sure enough instead of the temps fluctuating between 226 and 236 it ran a nice even 180 to 190 and that is with it being 104 today. It was the splitter! and I guess being too low since my girlfriends does not have this issue

Too low seems unlikely to me. Have you checked to make sure your radiator i is clear, no debris clogging it. Perhaps the splitter is just bringing out another problem. I also don't like how that splitter blocks the center.

did you leave the factory air dam in place?

Overheating problems accompanied by recent splitter installation come up on the Forum fairly frequently, along with overheating problems accompanied by recent air dam removal. The most frequent overheating problem that comes up is usually after draining and refilling coolant but without going through the Factory Service Manual procedure to remove trapped air in the heads.

Factory air dam is still in place and unaltered. To install the dewitts fans I had to pull the radiator and I cleaned out the radiator and condenser at that time. I did like how the splitter was vented on each side but the middle being blocked obviously does create an issue

The C5 is a bottom breather, air comes from under the car, and that style of splitter (C6 ZR1) restricts the air from entering the radiator, that is why the car runs warmer.

I honestly thought that the air would still scoop up from the bottom with that splitter on,,,,,,,,,,,I was wrong
