I have a 2003, standard shift convertible
My cigarette lighter doesn't work.
I checked 20 Amp fuses #1 and #11 --- both fine.
I pulled out the console to check if there was power at the connections where it attaches to the lighter body --- no power coming off the connections whether the key is on or off.
The wires coming from under the radio that attach to the lighter don't appear to be frayed or loose.
The other lighter-type connection INSIDE the console glovebox has power and works fine
You are correct. Thank You. I was testing the wrong fuse. All OK now
How about that location???! Any C5 owners who've successfully nosedived in there, and returned without any back trouble or other ailments are now qualified to go underwater cave exploring without fear of claustrophobic attacks!!!
You are correct. Thank You. I was testing the wrong fuse. All OK now
Youre under the hvac cig lighter doesnt work? What was the problem? Mine doesnt work either i checked both fuses and looks to be in good condition. You said it didnt have any power supplied to it? So it was fuse 7? My console port has power just nothing from the under stereo area. Hate to remove the console just to access that one cheap cig lighter port. Its alot easier to use the front one vs opening the console everytime.
You were checking the fuse for power at the fuse box or the plug connector behind the cig lighter and had no power? What did the problem end up being im having the same issue 99 corvette.

I was checking the wrong fuses (#1 and #11) I then removed the console to get to that lighter unit, pulled off the connector to the "CIGAR" lighter and checked to see if there was power there. NO POWER, so the lighter unit was NOT the problem. The CIGAR lighter fuse turns out to be #7 ---- NOT the two other fuses I was checking --- and replacing that blown fuse #7 solved my issue. YES, getting to the fuse box under the passenger side foot well is tough on the back and I had back surgery 3 years ago which makes it even more difficult. Removing the console to get to the lighter unit to test it is a relatively easy task, but you need to be careful with all that CHEAP PLASTIC that's part of the dash/console. While I had the console out I also removed the knee bolster under the dash to eliminate some rattles of wires bouncing around and hitting the PLASTIC knee bolster. Rattles drive me crazy --- but with all that cheap plastic everywhere, it's hard to eliminate them all.
I need to do this as well thanks for the information though i checked both fuses were good i think its a bad cigar light plug socket but will have to test power to the plug first.
