LAPD Third brake light modulator flasher
Gentlemen,
I need your help once more.
I recently purchased the flahing unit for the 3rd brake light.
Has any one done this installation on a 2003 Vert?
If so how do I ge to the wires to connect this plug and play mod?
Any deailed instructions, pictures etc. would be appreciated.
The instructions that came with the unit said just to remove the rear license plate, and connect the wires. I'm lost???????

You remove the entire panel that holds the license plate and you will find a pair of wires going to the Center Brake light. Just unplug the connector in this line and insert the wiring with the appropriate connectors supplied with the little black box. You can then play with the controls to change the duration of the flashing and the pulse of the flashing. Good Luck. :cool:

If you go in through the license plate, you will need to reach through the opening into the rear fascia all the way up behind the 3rd brake light and disconnect. I found that I needed to get my whole arm in there including my elbow to reach it. It was a PITA.
In retrospect, it is significantly easier to get to by removing a taillight. 2 screws and its out. You can reach that area much easier and you can see what you're doing a little better especially if you remove another taillight.
This picture is not so great, but if you look at the top left, the red connector is my 3rd brake light flasher connection plugged into the socket. This is the view from looking inside the taillight area. By removing the taillight or license plate, this job can be done in about 15 minutes if you don't fiddle with the settings on the flasher.
