Good afternoon, I’m the new owner of a 2003 corvette 50th anniversary edition. Right after the purchase I noticed the car was giving a service column lock message. The column itself will not lock if I try so I assume it has some sort of bypass. The service column lock message seems to have went away and been replaced by the pull key and wait 10 seconds. Every time the car is started it gives this message, and won’t go above 2 mph. I’ve already looked into the battery. Voltage was great on it. 12.6 volts.
I just fixed this issue in my 2000 FRC. Mine did have the LCM5 module but there were still a few additional steps to complete in order to get the "Pull key wait 10 seconds" message to go away. I have the instructions in an e-mail, I'd be happy to send them to you if you'd like. Mine has been fine since I completed these steps a couple weeks ago.
It is a m6 car, from what I understand it has to have some sort of bypass already to not lock correct?
Look at the links that I posted. It sounds like your 2003 may have had the dealer recall performed where the column lock was programmed out by the dealer. With the auto trans cars the dealers installed a blocking plate or removed the mechanism per the TSB.
Just wanted to update this thread so everyone is receiving the correct info. The car did in-fact already have a lmc5 installed. The only thing I had to do was the brown wire mod and poof, problem fixed.
